Being a Muslim parent, it’s our responsibility to teach our children about Islam. Grooming our kids spiritually is as much important as is to groom them worldly. The way we start teaching our children “A for Apple” and “twinkle twinkle” since they start speaking is ironic because we are never as much worried to teach them any small surah or the first kalimah. And sadly this attitude amplifies generation wise. If you haven’t taught your child basics of Islam, then do not expect him to be religious towards his child in future.
Teach your Child Quran:
An example is evident, how much concerned are you in teaching Quran to your kid as compared to your parents teaching Quran to you! I remember we (me and my siblings) were daily woken up in the morning and the first thing we did before getting ready for school was a recitation of Quran, whether a few verses. In the night, my mother used to revise all of us different short dua for children. But today, I feel I often forget this practice on my kids. Ironically we never remember scolding our child on bad grades in a school test. However busy we are, we make sure our kids have completed their school homework.
Sisters ! (and brothers too) It’s your job to teach your kid Islam. If you can not do this by your self, hire a tutor for Quran and Islamic teaching just as you hire a tutor for the schooling of your kid. Pay attention towards your children. A straightforward and good practice could be making your child memorize little duas for children. There are many short duas of day and night which can be easily remembered by children. Some of the easy Duas for children are mentioned below, and if you want your kid to memorize these duas, you can also join our Dua .
In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful
All praises are for Allah SWT, the most Compassionate, the most Forgiving.
Salutations and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad SAW, his family and companions.
Oh Allah, I submit myself to You.
I realize that parenting a child is a very difficult task and I turn to You in humility for Your help.
I implore You for Your wisdom and guidance.
Oh Allah, I know that our children are an amaanat from You, to care for and to raise in a manner that is pleasing to You.
Help me do that in the best way.
Teach me how to love in a way that You would have me love.
Help me where I need to be healed, improved, nurtured, and made whole.
Help me walk in righteousness and integrity so that You may always be pleased with me.
Allow me to be a God-fearing role model with all the communication, teaching, and nurturing skills that I may need.
Oh Allah, You know what our children need. Help and guide us in praying for our children.
Oh Allah, put a hedge of safety around our children. Protect their bodies, minds, and emotions from any kind of evil and harm.
